Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
Lewis joined the SciDev Board in October 2018 as Executive Director and was later appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in early 2019. In this time, Lewis has driven the transformation of SciDev, significantly growing revenues through a focus on profitable organic growth across several sectors. Lewis has over 18 years’ experience in Asia, North America, South America, Middle East and Africa across the water treatment and specialty chemicals sectors. He most recently worked for Ciba from 2005, which was acquired by BASF in 2008 where he worked until 2017 as Global Business Development Manager, Global R&D Project Manager and for the BASF mining business. Lewis has authored and co-authored numerous technical papers and holds several patent applications. He holds a degree in Applied Science and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Heath was appointed Company Secretary in 2017. Heath is a commercial solicitor with over 20 years of ASX listed company experience to Executive Director level. His strengths lie in corporate operations and compliance, asset due diligence and acquisitions and equity/debt funding focused on the resources, IT and healthcare sectors. As Company Secretary and then Executive Director of WPG Resources Ltd (2005–13), Heath played a pivotal role in the acquisition of WPG’s iron ore assets in South Australia, project permitting/funding and then sale to Arrium Ltd for $320 million in 2011. Heath holds a DipLaw (SAB) and Grad Dip Legal Practice (UTS).
Chief Financial Officer
John joined SciDev Limited as CFO in February 2020 with experience in senior financial roles in Australia, Asia, Europe and USA. His industrial finance and operations experience includes global manufacturing, mining and minerals processing, engineering and capital equipment, professional services and security transport operation. John brings with him a proven record in sound financial management, systems and processes, integrating acquisitions, delivering improvements to commercial business processes and strong cash flow management. John holds an MBA from MGSM, a Bachelor of Business, is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
President, Highland Fluid Technology, United States
Kevin, founder and owner of Highland Fluid Technology, creates enterprise value and market positioning through technology as evidenced by his more than 30 patents. In 1986, Kevin founded Clearwater, Inc., a speciality chemical manufacturing company with worldwide sales that was later acquired by Weatherford International. He later became involved in pressure drilling and oilfield chemical services, focussing in upstream oil and gas and unconventional reservoirs. Highland Fluid Technology bought certain assets of Smart Chemical Services to focus on process oilfield fluids. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Kentucky and has travelled widely throughout his career doing business in Russia, India, Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East.

With 30 years of experience in People & Culture, Kristen has been fortunate to have had a broad career, encompassing a wide range of experiences across industries including Transport, Retail, Entertainment, Aviation, IT, Telcoms and Banking. Kristen enjoys working with people and drawing on experience to partner with colleagues to help improve the business. Some hobbies of Kristen’s include travel, spending time with family and friends, walking, riding on a motor scooter and boating.
Dr. Jeffrey Zhang
Marketing and Strategy Director, Australia
Jeffrey was appointed Marketing and Strategy Director in early 2019. Jeffrey started his career as a mechanical engineer and gradually transformed himself into a material scientist and procurement specialist. He has been working in the marketing industry for chemical reagents and commodities since 2015. Jeffrey's multicultural background and cross-disciplinary knowledge have brought strong product R&D, supply chain, risk management and strategic marketing experience to the role. Jeffrey holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering B.M.E. and PhD of Material Science.
Sales and Marketing Director - North America, United States
Barry joined SciDev in early 2021 and resides in Denver, CO. Barry has over 35 years experience in the chemical industry and began his career as a R&D chemist working in water soluble polymers. Barry has served in various roles from Applications Engineer, Global Business Development and Senior Key Account Management with Cytec Industries, SNF, and Omnova Solutions. He has also spent 15 years as a partner in a company he co-founded focused on Specialty Chemicals. Over the past 20 years, Barry has spent most of his time in global roles expanding businesses to multiple markets.
Dr. Shawn Lu
Research & Development Manager, United States
Shawn joined the Highland Fluid team in August 2020. Shawn started his career in drilling and completion fluids at M-I SWACO and has been in various positions in R&D, product development and technical service. Prior to joining Highland, he was the Global R&D director at QMAX managing the corporate technology center. Shawn is well recognized in the industry. His current focuses include novel friction reducers for stimulation and creative chemical solutions for mining applications. Shawn holds Doctor's degree in Engineering with a specialty in surfactants and polymers from Columbia University in New York City.

Chad has worked in the Oil and Gas sector for 17 years and has been with Highland Fluid since September 2019 as General Manager. Prior to joining Highland, Mr. Abbott served five years as VP of Manufacturing and Logistics for Flotek Industries based in Houston, TX. Prior to his time at Flotek, Mr. Abbott served in various sales and operational roles at Fort Worth, TX based FTS International and spent 9 years managing manufacturing and supply chain for FTS International’s chemical division. Chad has Bachelor Degrees in both Economics and Business Administration from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma

Chris joined the Highland Fluid Technology team in July 2020. Prior to joining HFT, Mr. Dartez spent 18 years with Rockwater Energy Solutions in a variety of roles to include Vice President – Sales based in Houston, TX. During his time with Rockwater Energy Solutions, Mr. Dartez was a part of the Merger & Acquisitions team helping to transition newly acquired companies to the RES portfolio. Chris has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Jamiel joined SciDev in May 2018 and brings with him over 20 years of global experience in the water and mining sectors, working in roles in sales & marketing, business and project development and global key account management. With a process engineering background, he has experience in customised engineering and process solutions bringing innovation to our key customers globally. More recently, Jamiel’s role has expanded into the construction industry where he leads our development in supporting the clay management requirements of key infrastructure projects.

He has an established track record of helping oil and gas operators find the right solution for their operational needs. His technical knowledge paired onsite field experience gives him insight to the unique needs his operator require. Chad’s skills are supported by extensive marketing sales implementation strategies in the oilfield chemical solution arena.

Tom has 43 years of chemical sales and sales management experience within the industrial chemicals and water treatment industries, and the last 19 years working in oilfield chemicals. He also has strong experience with start up enterprises as well as working for industry majors.

Ben was appointed Technical Director of SciDev Limited in November 2019 as part of the acquisition of ProSol Australia, a bespoke mining chemicals company founded by Ben in 2013. With 20 years’ experience in water treatment in the mining and industrial sector, Ben brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the SciDev team.
Technical Sales Manager, Australia
Daan joined the team in mid-2020 to coordinate the growth of SciDev in Western Australia. Daan has worked extensively through the mining and water treatment industry across Australia, working with customers to solve problems, improve productivity and reduce the cost associated with slurry handling applications. Daan has a passion for sustainability which drives the key outcome of creating more with less. Daan has a keen interest in clay chemistry and rheology, and how these contribute to complex handling challenges as these minerals pass through various processing circuits. Daan’s experience delivers the selection of the optimum treatment program together with ongoing technical assistance to ensure the solution is applied in the best possible way. Daan holds a Bachelor of Science in Extractive Metallurgy and Chemistry from Murdoch University.

Reece joined SciDev as a Technical Account Manager at the end of 2016. He brings with him over 10 years’ experience in the mining and wastewater industries, gained through various positions in mining and industrial wastewater companies such as Ecolab and BASF and managing accounts Australia wide. Reece holds degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Newcastle.

Terry McHugh was appointed to the position of Technical Account Manager as part of SciDev’s acquisition of ProSol Australia. Terry has developed a vast array of practical and technical expertise working as a process engineer across industries including water treatment, remediation and mining. Terry has successfully forged strong business relationships with a range of customers who have commended his technical support and hands-on approach to problem-solving. Terry holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Chemical) from the University of Newcastle.
Robert Walker Jnr.
Water Services Manager, United States
Over the last eight and a half years, Mr. Robert Walker has been in the oil field business treating fresh and produced water with chemicals such as CLO2, PAA, and H2O2. This lead Robert to start his management role for five and half years, managing up to 29 personnel. In his current position also as a manager, Robert has worked in projects such as distribution of FRs and helping put together testing projects for various high level and valued customers.
Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoor life such as hunting, fishing, spending time flying with his son and sports. Robert also enjoys reading up on his history, researching new work-related technologies and is an avid documentary watcher.

Brad joined the team in 2019 and is a tertiary qualified Industrial Chemist with 14 years’ laboratory experience and over 30 years’ experience in the application of coagulants and flocculants to mineral processing, water, wastewater and paper manufacturing industries across Australia and Asia Pacific. Brad has previously worked in a number of sales / account management, business development and technical support roles for large multi-national chemical companies including Ciba Specialty Chemicals (Senior Account Manager), BASF (Senior Technical Solutions Specialist) and Nuoer Chemical Australia (Regional Sales Manager).

Katerina joined Highland Fluid Technology technical team to develop fluid technologies for upstream oilfield markets. She has advanced degree in chemical engineering and extensive experience in fluids technology and laboratory with the leading oilfield service companies, such as Schlumberger Technology Corporation (Sr. Development Engineer) and Halliburton Energy Services (Technical Advisor), and projects worldwide. Katerina adhere to technology-driven practical engineering, holds more than 12 patents, and authored several technical publications.

After earning a Chartered Accountant designation in a professional firm, John has applied his expertise in Financial Accounting, M&A Consulting and Financial Controller roles across Australia and North America. Sherri joined the Highland Fluid team in June 2018 and has worked as a Controller in various industries for the last 31 years. She received her accounting degree from University of Houston-Downtown and has her US CPA certification.

Jack was appointed Supply Chain Analyst in October 2020. Jack brings over 15 years experience across consumer electronics, FMCG and car manufacturer industries. He has extensive experience in delivering supply chain strategies needed to make an organisation more effective in achieving their business goals. He also specialises in Procurement, Demand and Supply Planning, Inventory Management and International Freight forwarding. He has a Master of Business in Enterprise Resource Planning, and a qualified APICS CPIM.

Amy was appointed Operations Coordinator in January 2020. Prior to this, she worked with SciDev on a contract basis in administration for 2 ½ years. She has over 20 years’ Executive Assistant and Administration experience and has an Advanced Diploma in Project Management and an Advanced Diploma in Marketing and Communications.

Kathy joined Highland Fluid in April 2021. Kathy has 11 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Before joining Highland, Kathy worked at Flotek Chemistry as a technical support chemist. In this role, she also helped out with various operational tasks.
Prior to Flotek Chemistry, Kathy was employed with FTS International for 8 years as a lab technician. This role was mainly performing pre-job testing for upcoming frac jobs. Kathy also spent several years in the medical field as a medical laboratory technician.

Jeff was appointed Production and Warehouse Manager at SciDev’s Kings Park manufacturing facilities in December 2018. Prior to this, he worked for Du Pont, a multinational manufacturing company. With 28 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, Jeff brings a depth of knowledge and skills to SciDev.
